Syringa Sticks - Arrowshaft Wood

This wood has been used by several native groups for arrowshafts.   Its scientific name is Philadelphia lewisii, it is also know as either Syringa or Mock Orange.

Rose Wood

Relatively straight sticks of wood from non-native Roses which can be used for arrow shafts, wands, or knife handles.   These sticks average two feet long and 1/4" to 1/2" in diameter.   Thorns have been removed.

Elderberry Wood

Elderberry wood (Sambucus mexicana) is a soft wood that has a very broad central pith which can be used to make flutes, blow guns, or clapper sticks.   Caution:  The green wood contains a cyanide compound which dissipates as it dries.   These sticks are air dried and relatively straight, averaging two feet long and between 1/2" to 1" in diameter.

Oak Wood

Oak Wood is a hard wood that can be used for many purposes including knife handles.   These are weathered shed branch pieces averaging two feet long and 1/2" to 1" in diameter.   Sorry - These branches cannot be shipped outside of California.

Acorn Sampler

This is four types of acorns seperated in labeled bags:  White Oak (Quercus garryana), Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii), Blue Oak (Quercus sp.) and Live Oak (Quercus sp.).   Each has been frozen to kill any pests.   Eventually more types will be available.   Sorry - Cannot ship outside of California.
