ABALONE SHELLS
Abalone are a type of marine snail from the Haliotidae family. The structure of the shell is a low open spiral with several respiratory holes in a row near the edge. The innermost layer of the shell is composed of nacre or mother-of-pearl. Consequently these shells are very iridescent with a large range of strong and changeable colors. Throught history the abalone shell has been considered very attractive for use as a source of decorative pieces.

SHARK TEETH
Sharks have teeth that are modified scales with the same structure as out teeth. They can have up to 3,000 teeth at a time arranged in multiple rows. As these teeth are worn out or lost they are replaced by the continuously growing teeth from the row behind. The front row teeth are often replaced every 10-14 days when the shark is actively feeding. The ocean floor can often be covered by modern shed shark teeth for divers to collect. These tiny shark teeth are examples from a Sandtiger Shark that has thin, sharp, knife-like teeth designed to catch and hold slippery fish. The darker colored varieties have started to become fossilized. An attempt is made to send whole examples but some breakage might be visible. Come in sets of Four.
